Our livestock are free-ranged on pasture and are only loosely confined at night for predator control. Our animals are raised naturally without growth hormones, implants or antibiotics. This natural way of raising stock produces a tender, juicy meat containing the healthy omega-3 essential fatty acid and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) that has many health benefits for all of us.

We also offer a Community Supported Agriculture program or CSA . First you buy a share of the harvest for the annual growing season. Then, once a week, from mid June to October, you collect your harvest box of absolutely fresh produce at the farmers market or at the farm. For the 2009 season we will be offering more shares to accommodate the increased demand for the program but we still recommend signing up early to guarantee a spot.

Welcome to Honeybrook Farm, home to Bob and Sheree Mcgee. Our organic farm is located in the municipality of Huron Shores in the beautiful Chiblow Lake area. Compared with conventional farms, organic farms are more diverse, less specialized and less intensive. Crop nutrition is achieved with animal manures and nitrogen-fixing legumes (clover) for fertility. Pest, weed and disease control are achieved through a combination of crop rotations, choice of varieties, timing of cultivations, livestock and habitat management to encourage natural predators. This is why livestock forms an integral part of the majority of organic farms. We also utilize a water collection and passive solar system for our greenhouses and fields. We do not use any chemicals or pesticides on our land and our vegetables are not genetically modified (GM) vareties.
